John Amaechi is the first NBA player to publicly declare he's gay.
It never ceases to amaze me what thoughts are rumbling through some people's minds . . . .

Former player. A very important distinction, I think. We're still waiting for the first man on a professional US sports team to come out.
Part of me is tired of the end-of-career coming-out. It's not that I don't understand why they don't come out earlier, but it's the book-tour part that gets to me.
Yes, but as "drf" and I say all the time: "He/She's got a book!"
It seems these days if you don't have a book published no one takes you seriously anymore . . .
