eCAS Update . . . .

The Citizenship and Immigration Canada website has been notoriously behind-the-times when it comes to posting residency application status info online.

For the hell of it, I checked it today and it is just now showing that our medical reports have been received in Ottawa. We happen to know, via FEDEX tracking, that they have been there since July 17, 2007. Prior to this "update" the last info on the site was that our file had been transferred to the New York City office on November 16, 2006.

It appears that government bureaucracy and "efficiency" will be one thing that is not different between the US and Canada . . . .

Oddly enough, we've found the governmental stuff very efficient here, at least in Ontario. Getting our SIN, health cards, driver's license - all that stuff went super smoothly. Our local region of Peel is shockingly efficient. (And also incredibly friendly! Coming from NYC, it shocks me every time.)

With any luck it's just CIC that's slow, and BC will be good to you.

BC's got to be better than Florida . . . .

When I came back to BC from the Excited States had to get a local DL again (here in Vancouver). The folks at the DMV really were just as l-girl advertised. In fact, they were so great I sent their boss a letter of thanks and congratulation.

Hope things move a little faster with the Gnus WEB.
