Campaiging Canadian Style . . . .

Some photos from my activities on the local political scene here in Vancouver comprise today's post.

As noted here, my efforts are directed toward getting Michael Byers elected as the NDP MP in the Vancouver Centre riding. Recent polls show the NDP gaining ground both in BC and nationally.

Anything I can do to keep harper from obtaining a majority government will be well worth it.
If you're an eligible voter (we can't for three years), please exercise your right to vote and keep him and his ilk from destroying the Canada we worked so hard to emigrate to . . . .

Go, Bob!
Starting to look like very few of us will need to default to strategic voting this time round.

Star : "a Toronto Star/Angus Reid poll put the Liberals at 21 per cent, tied with the NDP, with the Green Party at 7 per cent. The Conservatives had 40 per cent.

The Star poll found that more than half of Liberal voters (54 per cent), and almost half of NDP (47 per cent), and Green (44 per cent) voters would seriously consider "strategically" switching their votes against their preferred candidate if it looks like another party has a better shot at winning, and could block a Conservative."

It depends on what your priorities are, but I think it is too bad that Byers opposes a carbon tax shift and prefers that Canada do nothing for the years it takes to set up a cap and trade, which even then will only capture half of our emissions.

I'm just so worried we're about to hand Harper a majority. Why are we targeting the Liberals?

Steven,

I'm not targeting anyone as I don't have the right to vote in Canadian elections as of yet.

My personal philosophy is to vote one's conscience. If, however, I resided in a riding where my "conscience" vote had absolutely no chance of winning, the decision would be much more difficult . . . .
